1. Nocturnus Clan & The Dark Legion are not the same thing.

I grow tired of these comparison a lot of people claim, I have witness his investigations to debunk these claims, to the point that thanks to him, i found a lot of things to prove once and for all that both ken penders and the sonic wiki haven't made a full investigation when it comes to these two groups, allow me to explain the highly difference between these two groups.

1. Clan ≠ Cult

A clan and a Cult are highly different. a clan is usually held like a kingdom, where it's leader usually has the option to either expand it, merge with another clan or battle with them. this was how it was done with the knuckles clan and the nocturnus clan. unlike a cult, who are excessively supporting one another and a cause, all about conformity and compliance, and intolerance of anyone who doesn't agree with what their mission is. this is evidence by the fact that the dark legion initially took it upon themselves to follow the ways of their leader who wanted to give every echidna cybernetic implant and place angel island on the planet.

2. has an armor ≠ has a robe.

obviously a great observation, unlike the dark legion where their main clothing are robes, the nocturnus clan wears a set of armor that can show that it helped them gain high defense. to me, i prefer the armor.

3. have 5 different variant looks ≠ all looks the same

another interesting observation, the dark legion had a more basic look when placed next to the nocturnus clan, to the point that when looking at the archie comic, it look like they copy pasted the same picture of the dark legions, to the point that they weren't even updated to it's final appearance, unlike the nocturnus clan that each had different looks per squad. (i'm aware i only included 3, but the other 2 designs come from a different armor only found in the speech bubble and the other being the beta design of shade's armor that was later use as background) i once again prefer the nocturnus clan.

4. had 1 known leader ≠ had 7 leaders

while the nocturnus clan only had 1 leader, beign imperator ix, who ruled before they were even trapped in the twilight cage. the dark legion had 7 leaders, them being menniker, moritori rex, luger, kragok, dimitri, lien-da and remington.

5. they don't age in the twilight cage ≠ they age slowly on the twilight zone

as stated, no one on the twilight cage ages, as characters like shade, nestor and imperator ix have all been around for 4,000 years and haven't aged at all. unlike the dark legions, where members like kragok, lien-da and julie-su were born on the twilight zone and aged slowly while there. another thing to point out is that the twilight cage is just a nickname since no one can age there, and it's real name is the argus cage.

6. no cybernetic implant ≠ cybernetic implants

now from the looks of shade and the other nocturnus clan, none of them sport cybernetic implants, this is evidence by visible characters like shade, the twiligth cage pirate captain, nestor and imperator ix, who appear pure organic. while the dark legion have multiple implants that allows them to easily be identified when they don't have their robes on.

7. aren't allies with eggman ≠ are allies with eggman

unlike the dark legion, who joined dr eggman's army and followed all of his commands, the nocturnus clan did the opposite and initially battle against eggman and his army, to the point that eggman had to hide and later join sonic and his friends just to defeat the powerful clan.

8. created the gizoids ≠ no connection with the gizoids.

a very interesting connection, while the dark legion had nothing to do with the gizoids or emerl. the nocturnus clan were the creators of the gizoids, something that not even the archie comic focused on. Quite the breadcrumbs since sonic adventure explain that the knuckles clan were enemies with another unknown clan and sonic battle suggested that emerl was built by a race 4,000 years ago, only for sonic dark brotherhood to reveal that all this time, it was the nocturnus clan who were against the knuckles clan and were the creator of the gizoids.

9. enslaved the krons ≠ nope.

unlike the dark legion, who hasn't enslaved any race when they triumphantly took over echidnaopolis, the nocturnus clan managed to enslaved the krons, to force them to build more gizoids for imperator ix's army, something that makes the nocturnus clan more cold blooded than we think.

10. turned 2 colonies at war ≠ nope

unlike the dark legion, who didn't had alliances with anyone outside of their territory, the nocturnus clan forced both the N'rrgal colony and the Zoah colony against eachother so they are forced to battle and lose a lot of resources, to the point to make them believe that they need the nocturnus clan's support. giving the nocturnus clan the advantage to steal their technology.

11. control the minds of the voxai ≠ nope

unlike the dark legion, that lack any magical being who can read minds, the nocturnus clan hired 3 voxai known as the "overmind" in order to secure that all voxai are kept in order and to make sure they weren't plotting a rebellion. as stated by shade, if they were caught, the overmind would go as far as causing severe mental damage to anyone. making them much dangerous than the dark legion.

12. intend to take over the world ≠ intend to mechanize all echidnas.

they both have different goals, while it's fully stated that the nocturnus clan intend to take over the entire planet, the dark legion's goal seem to be that they want to mechanize all echidnas on echidnaopolis and albion.

13. stole equipment from the other collonies ≠ made their own equipment

He made some observation when it came to both groups, while the dark legion have genetic weaponry that are too basic looking. the nocturnus clan have equipments that behave like the attacks of the four colonies, such as the armor and beam attacks resembling the zoah's, the leaching of stealing other's health from the N'rrgl and the wings that behave like those of the voxai, although they dont have attacks or equipment own by the kron, let's remember that the kron made the gizoids during the event of sonic chronicles dark brotherhood, who normally sides with the nocturnus clan.

14. didn't had intentions with angel island ≠ intended to own angel island.

unlike the dark legion, that wished to take over the whole island and wanted to plant it back to it's original location. the nocturnus clan wanted nothing to do with the island, as their biggest desire was the master emerald. if they did wanted the island, they would've send it to the twilight cage even before sonic reached blue ridge zone.

15. hacked eggman's badniks ≠ borrowed eggman's badniks

since they worked for eggman, the dark legion were provided with badniks to assist them. unlike the nocturnus clan, that were the the only known army capable to hack eggman's badniks and turn them all against him. they were so successful that they were all capable to outtake e-123 omega, which led shadow to hate the nocturnus clan in a heartbeat.

16. can teleport ≠ can't teleport.

such ability was never shown on the dark legion, mostly because they had to rely on a giant machine to teleport them, unlike the nocturnus clan that due to their warp belt, they can teleport to any location they desire. even when you defeat them, they set their location to evacuate and recover.

17. they were captured by argus ≠ they were imprisoned by steppenwolf.

unlike the dark legions, that were send to the twilight zone against their will by steppenwolf due to menniker's intention for revenge after his father's disappearance, only themselves were send to the twilight zone. the nocturnus clan were captured by Argus due to how powerful they were becoming, to assure that they all would be forgotten, argus even took their main temple that had all of their equipment in order to assure that such weaponry would be kept in the argus cage, not knowing that it left 1 gizoid behind.

In conclusion.

they're nothing alike, don't believe pender or the wiki, if you want to find the fact, you must play the game yourself. only thing they have in common are that they're a group of echidnas, nothing more.

2. The Ix vs finitevus vs zachary situation.

Jumping from the group, to the main baddy of their respective series. now it's time we put to rest that ix is a copy of the two white echidnas. not only will i prove what's not equal between ix and finitevus, but how these difference makes finitevus much closer in being a copy of zachary.

1. chief of a clan ≠ doctor.

Painfully obvious that their position aren't the same, while imperator ix is a chief, finitevus is a doctor, the same position dr zachary has.

2. he's fully armored ≠ doesn't have an armor.

while Dr finitevus and Dr zachary lack an armor to likely fit well when placed next to sonic and knuckles, imperator ix is fully armored from top to bottom, even as far as likely wearing a mask to cover his face.

3. has his own army ≠ loner.

unlike the two doctors, who barely leads their own group. imperator ix has his clan to form his army, being the nocturnus clan. finitevus lacks an army that makes his deeds, and although dr zachary has his robots, they mostly work for eggman. both doctors usually spend their time alone.

4. rules over the twilight cage ≠ not a ruler

unlike imperator himself, both doctors never rule over anything. while imperator ix rules over the entire twilight cage, even as far as keeping the other colonies within the twilight cage in terrible conditions to make them believe they need his support.

5. lives like an emperor ≠ lives like an outcast

it's interesting to note that unlike the other villains in the sonic series, Imperator ix lived his entire time like an emperor since nocturne is his temple, both doctors have to rely on living isolated from the public and lives all alone.

6. Light Grayish blue fur ≠white fur

now for the biggest one, the reason everyone claim they're all the same... their fur, well it's time i debunk this. for starters, Imperator Ix is light Grayish blue, not white. he only has white on his beard, his eyebrows and on his front two dreadlocks, unlike both doctors that are fully white, even if finitevus was originally red.

7. didn't worked with eggman ≠ worked with eggman.

unlike both doctors, who joined eggman in order to wreak havoc. while finitevus helped dr eggman in the invasion of albion, zachary helped eggman invade angel island. unlike imperator ix, who prooved to have the upper hand when he and his clan battle against eggman and his badniks, forcing eggman to go into hiding after his defeat.

8. didn't worked with knuckles ≠ worked with knuckles.

while both doctors managed to work with knuckles for a period of time before they revealed their true intentions that led them to be enemies with knuckles. imperator ix didn't had the chance to have knuckles by his side, making this one of his failed attempts.

9. has connection with the gizoids ≠ has nothing to do with the gizoids.

now i know the comic dr zachary is from came before emerl and the gizoids were made, but just like him, dr finitevus has nothing to do with the gizoids either. which is interesing since the archie comic barely focused on the gizoids in the original timeline, allowing the nocturnus clan to be clarified as the rightful owners.

10. has connection with the other race trapped in the twilight cage ≠ has no connection with the other race trapped in the twilight zone.

imperator ix rules over the twilight cage, meaning that he has high connection with everyone. unlike dr finitevus that only use it as a place to discard all of his secrets, since we never see him being there it's safe to say he has no connection at all, and since it was made after zachary's introduction, it's obvious he as well has nothing to do with the location.

11. can teleport at his own will ≠ can't teleport on their own. due to him gaining powers from the chaos emeralds he stolen, it's obvious that he gained the ability to teleport. unlike the doctors that can't teleport on their own, especially dr. finitevus, who has to rely on a warp ring to help himself, but if someone steals all of his warp rings, he's stranded.

12. Capable to teleport anyone to another locations ≠ can't teleport anyone.

now imperator ix is capable of teleporting anyone with his powers, as he does this when knuckles, shade and whoever is on their team got to the top part of nocturne, only to be teleported into ix's throne room by him. unlike the doctors that lack this ability.

13. was sealed away in the twilight cage ≠ was never sealed.

now while both doctors ran freely and never getting themselves caught. imperator ix was captured by argus and was imprisoned in the twilight cage.

14. wants to dominate the world ≠ want to destroy everything in his path.

it's fully explain in the game that imperator ix wishes to make himself as powerful as a god and dominate the entire world. although he succeed in gaining god-like powers by absorbing powers from the chaos and master emerald, he failed in dominating the world. unlike the doctors, who intended to destroy everything in their path, never once mentioning if they wish to rule the planet.

15. succeeded in stealing the chaos and master emerald ≠ doesn't even attempt to steal them.

While the doctors didn't even attempt to steal the emeralds and left them in their resting place, imperator ix was highly successful with his clan in stealing all of the emeralds, and it's thanks to this attempt that allowed ix to become very powerful.

16. enslaved the krons to build his gizoids ≠ doesn't enslave anyone.

unlike the doctors who either work alone or has small accomplishes with a gang, imperator ix has proven how cold blooded he was as he managed to enslave the kron colony in building his gizoid army. unlike the doctors who don't enslave anyone.

17. turned 2 colonies at war ≠ never done that.

in order to keep them in line and to allow his clan to steal their technology and their abilities, imperator ix managed to turn both the zoah colony and the N'rrgl colony against eachother and made them believe they needed his help. both doctor never done this.

18. manage to gain help to mind control those who are against him ≠ doesn't do that.

in order to get all the information he desire, imperator ix hired 3 voxai known as the "overmind" in order to assure that all voxai stay in line and not plot anything against him. as stated by shade, if they were caught, the overmind would go as far as causing severe mental damage to anyone. both doctor doesn't have the magic or anyone that has this dark torture.

19. can fly ≠ can't fly

whenever he feels like it, imperator ix can fly, likely from the powers he stole from the chaos emeralds. unlike both doctors that lack this ability.

20. can regain health by attacking his enemies ≠ doesn't have this ability

whenever imperator ix successfully attacks sonic and the others, he manage to steal from their health in order for him to replenish his health. this ability is not use by the doctors.

21. wasn't scarred by knuckles ≠ was scarred by knuckles.

although imperator ix was defeated by knuckles and his friends, he lacked any physical damages or changes after losing in battle. unlike the doctors, who's main appearance were changed due to knuckles' actions. such as knuckles' chaos energy scarred finitevus in becoming insane and turning his fur white and his eyes full black. while knuckles' defeating dr zachary that led him to fall from angel island left him with his right side in a terrible stage, only to receive cybernetic implants by dr eggman.

22. failed to manipulate knuckles ≠ succeeded in manipulating knuckles.

while knuckles naivety made him an easy target by both doctors, imperator ix failed in trying to manipulate knuckles, mostly thanks to sonic who showed knuckles not to fall easily on anyone's tricks.

23. fought super sonic ≠ didn't fought super sonic unlike any other echidnas villains, imperator ix was the only known echidna villain to actually fight super sonic. unlike the two doctors that never fought super sonic and would cowardly hide from sonic.

24. sees sonic as his equal ≠ sees knuckles as his equal. it's shocking to find out that the echidna that intend to control knuckles actually sees sonic as his equal instead, even when he's about to fight super sonic, he calls him his equal match. unlike the two doctors who sees knuckles as their equal.

25. has a personal vendetta with sonic rather than knuckles ≠ has a personal vendetta with knuckles rather than sonic.

while the two doctors have a personal vendetta against knuckles for successfully defeating them and highly leaving them with marks. imperator ix gains a great hatred towards sonic since it was him who destroyed ix's empire. from freeing the kron, to revealing the culprit to the zoah and the n'rrgl, to saving the voxai, to destroying the gizoids and to managing to get into knuckles mind to be strong, makes sense that sonic would be his arch nemesis instead of knuckles.

In conclusion.

imperator ix has nothing in common with finitevus, except being an evil echidna with powers. but finitevus is too identical to dr zachary. so don't believe the sonic wiki as they describe him as white, when he's actually mostly gray. it's even likely that whoever was in control of the wiki hasn't even played the game.

3. the Shade vs Julie-Su situation.

now for the big one, how it cringes me and hime when you guys on the wiki claim that shade the echidna has "so many" similarity with Julie-su the echidna, yet all they do is claim 4 things. well, hell to those facts because i have 25 evidence at how both are so different from personality, to backstory, to their actions. so sit back and listen up.

1. Orange with cream fur ≠ pink fur.

the most obvious one are their fur colors, Julie-su is as pink as amy rose with purple streaks on her hair, even in the early archie comics, she was the only pink echidna that she stood out from the crowd who usually were red, brown or even purple. As for shade, she sports an orange red color that if one were to place all game echidna in a rainbow position, she would be in the middle of knuckle's red and tikal's brighter orange. even their eyes are different, shade's are pink and julie-su's are purple. also, her orange fur made multiple fans believe she might be related to tikal, while other thought she would be tikal wearing a new outfit. this actually has happen before with characters that share the same colors and look alike, such as speedy / bean the dynamite / jet the hawk, carrottia the rabbit / rouge the bat (colors only), and marine the raccoon / stick the badger.

2. doesn't have relatives ≠ is related to the leaders of the dark legion

shade doesn't seem to have a family, being a common trend with the majority of the sonic game characters, unlike julie-su, who's family are fully established in the comic series, from the biological ones, to the adoptive one. in the end, it makes shade more mysterious in my book.

3. doesn't have hair ≠ has hair

shade follows tikal's head style of not having hair, which still makes them look female. unlike julie-su and the female echidnas in the archie comic, that have hairs.

4. wears an armor ≠ wears a robe

their main uniforms are quite different, julie-su wears the usual robe the dark legion wears, while shade wears her own customary and distinguishable armor that made her stand out more. still prefer the armor instead of the robes

5. proactive ≠ reactive.

if i have to be honest, shade is very proactive, while julie-su is just reactive. shade is always shown to be ready to battle, capable to defeat her enemies and never giving up, just like sonic and shadow the hedgehog. unlike julie-su, where 70% of her appearance, she doesn't do much and usually watches as the enemy unfold their wrath. even her sister, lien-da, has shown to be more proactive than her.

6. succeeded to capture knuckles ≠ failed to capture knuckles.

on her first mission outside of the twilight cage, shade managed to capture knuckles. unlike julie-su who didn't defeated him in battle on their first encounter.

7. succeeded in stealing the chaos emeralds ≠ wasn't even capable of stealing the chaos emeralds.

while julie-su wasn't capable of stealing the chaos emeralds due to the early archie comic showing no interest having knuckles with them, with the exception of the master emerald. shade was successful enough in stealing the chaos emeralds and even the master emerald from knuckles, showing how dangerous she really can be.

8. fought knuckles 3 times before joining his team ≠ barely fought knuckles before joining his team.

unlike Julie-Su, who barely put up a fight when she first encountered knuckles, shade was initially a more suitable fighter when it came with fighting knuckles, fighting him a total of 3 time. unlike julie-su, who quickly joined knuckles in a heartbeat. it took some time for shade to join knuckles, heck, she was even saved by knuckles that after his gratitude of saving her, made her join him and the other after seeing how ix merely killed her.

9. was left for dead ≠ left the dark legion at her own free will

unlike shade, that was left behind and almost fell to her doom, julie-su left the dark legion at her own free will twice. first when she encountered knuckles, second when she crash her space vessel. also, unlike shade, julie-su was recovered by the cult.

10. didn't had her memory erased ≠ had her memories erased twice.

unlike shade, julie-su had her memories erased twice. now some of you would say "what about the overmind", let's remember that taking over one's mind is not the same as erasing their memories, so this isn't valid enough for equality.

11. isn't related to knuckles ≠ is related to knuckles.

something that initially cause a huge controversy was that julie-su was related to knuckles and that both were still a couple. unlike Shade, being from the nocturnus clan and spent 4,000 years in the twilight cage, isn't related to knuckles.

12. ex member of a clan ≠ ex member of a cult.

as we said before, a clan and a cult are completely different, even the way when she was removed from the clan says that she was no longer a trustworthy member of the nocturnus clan. unlike julie-su, that every time she tried to get away at her own will and wants nothing to do with the dark legion cult, she's always dragged back to them, either by reasons or by force.

13. has knowledge of the colonies in the twilight cage ≠ hasn't any knowledge of the twilight zone.

unlike julie-su, that doesn't know anything of the twilight zone, shade has high knowledge of the twilight cage and the colonies in it. even as far as pointing what the nocturnus clan did to the kron colony, the N'rrgl colony, the zoah colony and the voxai colony that led the nocturnus clan to be the highest colony in all of the twilight cage.

14. doesn't have cybernetic implants ≠ has cybernetic implants.

now one of the more obvious observation is that shade doesn't have any cybernetic implants on her body, julie-su has a cybernetic dreadlock. showing well that shade is more organic than her.

15. has a bond with the chao ≠ was never seen with a chao.

now in sonic chronicles: dark brotherhood, you can partner up anyone with the chao, even shade. to the point that shade can bond with more than one chao. unlike julie-su, that was never seen with a chao.

16. fights with her fist ≠ usually fights with her gun.

something very interesting, although julie-su had been seen fighting without a weapon, the majority of her appearance always show her using her gun, even when it was prohibited when she visited princess sally, meanwhile, all of shade's attacks has her punching her enemies, unlike the nocturnus clan that use their arm cannon equipment. shade refusing to use weapons plays similar to how knuckles usually prefer to use his fists to attack.

17. can teleport ≠ can't teleport.

unlike julie-su, shade can teleport herselfs at anywhere she want, why didn't she teleported herself when imperator ix made that explosion is still unknown, but it's likely that her warp belt was drained from her battle with sonic and his team. both she and shadow are the only playable characters in the game that can teleport.

18. can climb up walls like knuckles ≠ can't climb up walls.

unlike julie-su, shade can climb up walls like knuckles, although knuckles has his spikes to allow him to climb at ease, it's possible that shade's armor is equipped with a system that allows her to climb up the wall at ease. if julie-su had this ability, she would've avoided a lot of falling and escaped easily.

19. has the ability to leech her enemies health to replenish her own health ≠ doesn't have this ability.

whenever shade attacks her enemy, she's capable to drain their health to regain her health, likely an ability that she learned from the N'rrgl colony. this is obviously something julie-su isn't capable of doing.

20. serious personality ≠ girly personality.

shade has shown to be very serious in the game, almost as serious as shadow, to the point that no one can even see a smile on her face, making it more like an eclipse, something that people don't want to miss seeing. unlike julie-su, who's more girly when compared, even showing that she's the one with the romance when it comes to her relationship with knuckles, something that shade doesn't do.

21. second in command ≠ merely a pawn

while shade was the second in command of the nocturnus clan, she had succeeded in capturing knuckles and stealing the chaos emeralds that at the time made her a great threat before she joined sonic and his friends. this wasn't the same as julie-su, who was merely a pawn when it came to her relationship with the dark legion. she basically didn't do anything when she was with them, which begs the question why Kragok and Dimitri wanted her while Moritori Rex and Lien-Da saw her as a waste of space.

22. had connection with the gizoids ≠ has nothing to do with the gizoids.

like i said before, the nocturnus clan were the creators of the gizoids, even shade remarks that imperator ix is very proud of them, calling it his greatest creation, unlike julie-su, who has nothing to do with them or hasn't even met emerl.

23. fought against her leader ≠ hasn't fought with any of her leaders.

once again, shade was capable of fighting her ex leader, imperator ix. unlike julie-su, that was always grouching when next to lien-da, not even putting up a fight. only one who fought with her leaders for her was knuckles, as he has fought dimitri, kragok and moritori rex. even sonic fought lien-da for her.

24. born 4,000 years ago and never aged in the twilight cage ≠ was born and aged on the twilight zone.

unlike julie-su, that was born in the twilight zone. shade was born on earth and aged gracefully until she and the nocturnus clan were captured by argus and taken to the twilight cage.

And Finally, The moment that all of Sonic Fandom has been wait for!

25. doesn't have a romance with knuckles ≠ has a romance with knuckles.

Now for the big one, now julie-su's main objective of creation was to give knuckles a girlfriend, we get to see the majority of her always either kissing him or just flirting with him. this isn't the same with how knuckles and shade act when next to one another. where they don't flirt, don't kiss or show interest with one another in that way. only things they did was save one from falling off angel island, and showing how dangerous the voxai are. everything else are just concern when it comes with fighting imperator ix. as for shade's creation, all i have is that she was made to follow the full trend that all main sonic nintendo DS game have new female characters that reflect the main 3 male sonic characters.

1. Sonic with Blaze = Sonic Rush (both collect emeralds, fight an eggman and can turn super)

2. Tails with marine = Sonic Rush adventures (both are the main sidekicks who are also NPC)

3. Knuckles with shade = Sonic chronicles dark brotherhood (both are echidnas from different clans who want to stop imperator ix)

sadly, after sonic chronicles, they stopped introducing new characters that were highly prominent to the story, everyone else acted like a side character or characters that were never focused on to the story, until sonic frontier brought it back, such as Sage.

In conclusion

With so much difference, it's enough to debunk the whole situation that "Shade was a copy of Julie-Su". Sonic Fandom, don't believe what Ken Penders say or let him feed you his lies, mostly because there's a high chance that whoever is in charge of it hasn't even played the game. Only things shade has in common is that she’s a female echidna, use an advance technology and was from a powerful group. as for shade herself, i say she's more of a combination of knuckles, tikal and shadow. traits that are nothing that julie-su has.

knuckles

1. both have preference for hand-in-hand combat.

2. both have a bond with the chao

3. both are capable to climb up walls

4. both were manipulated into fighting sonic and tails.

5. both were recurring enemies of the game they were introduced in, before becoming sonic's friend.

6. both were successful in stealing the chaos emeralds.

7. both were betrayed by the person they helped (knuckles / shade with eggman / imperator ix)

tikal

1. both were members of a clan

2. both had the second highest position on the clan

3. both are orange female echidnas

4. both have a bond with the chao

5. both spent 4,000 years imprisoned

6. both goes against their superior's orders

7. both were attacked by their superior when they disagreed (tikal / shade with pachacamac / imperator ix)

shadow

1. both have serious personality

2. both were manipulated by their superiors

3. both wanted revenge on their superior (shadow / shade with black doom / imperator ix)

4. both have a bond with the chao

5. both have the teleporting ability

6. both were manipulated into fighting sonic.

7. despite being imprisoned for years, both characters look younger than their actual age, shade being 4,000 years older and shadow being 50 years older.

but you tell me, are these valid enough for you to say they're nothing alike? please comment down below
