Honestly this game is a great conversion of the original puyo puyo on the genesis. and this is just great 2 player music. tho
It's because it's actually the final boss theme. maybe I should make a review of this game.

The 8-bit versions of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Sonic Spinball are coming to Sonic Origins Plus
The 8-bit version of D.RMBM still features the SSSSS Squad, alongside the AOSTH version of Eggman. Just like 16 bit version.
The 8-bit version of Sonic Spinball however, cuts out all the Freedom Fighters and features AoSth Eggman on the box

THIS FILM IS AMAZING
I love all the references to the games (the entire film's plot being based on Sonic 3 and Knuckles, the Death Egg Robot appearing, Agent Stone's place of employment being called "Mean Beans", Knuckles punching the Master Emerald out of Robotnik, an alteration of Sonic 3's opening cutscene, the temple scene being a massive reference to Labyrinth Zone, one of the G.U.N helicopters having an insignia of "SA-2", Sonic snowboarding referencing Sonic 3's Icecap Zone, et cetera.)
Got to admit, introducing Shadow before Amy or hell, Metal Sonic will always baffle me. I guess it's a marketing decision.
I specially like Knuckles' characterization in this film! He's not too dimwitted, not too hotheaded, he's the perfect iteration of Knuckles! It's amazing how Sonic 2, a film that's both the "cartoon character going to the real world" and origin story cliches, it is shockingly amazing!
