So, Shadow recognised Black Doom (calling out "You!" Upon seeing Doom's Eye), but he didn't remember beating him. Gerald also goes on to say that "you must beat him at some point in the future." What does that mean? Is the "true ending" of Shadow the hedgehog set after Generations, while everything else in the game isn't? That doesn't make any sense.

Shadow is indeed The Ultimate Lifeform. Even at an infantile state he has a strong grip that can break steel. Yet giggles adorably in the face of violence.
