Here's my head cannon for potential voices for the Freedom Fighters in the modern era:
Sally - Laura Bailey
Antoine - Trevor Devall
Bunnie - Vivian Nixon
Rotor - Corey Krueger
Nicole - Laura Faye Smith
Any other characters and voices you guys want?
I’ve been wondering about where Sonic was born, Christmas Island.
Sonic himself said it a strange place compared to anywhere else in the world. But in what way did he mean by “strange”? What is this place really like, why haven’t we seen it, and have nobody ever goes there? Well, I guess I’ll have to came up with my own theories.
The island is based off of a real-life nuclear test site. But instead of nuclear radiation, maybe the island has high-levels of an energy that somewhat in Sonic’s world. Chaos Emerald. It could‘ve been the birthplace of the Master Emerald as well. Just burst out of a volcano, far away from the island. Anyway, the levels of chaos energies are so high, even the law of physics there are out of wack. As for it being “strange”, I’d imagine it as Mobius from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon.
Sonic was born as one of the creatures on that weird place. A normal person would have gone insane living in a place like that. But for Sonic, he got really bored. He must’ve been one of those rare natives that just wanted to leave. Sonic has no restraints because he was just crazy. Insanity can be another form of freedom.
Christmas Island might have some connection with Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik at one time. He could have been there for research in his rise to taking over the world. Maybe going insane as well as part of the process. He may of had some unintended part in Sonic getting off that island, leading to their very first encounter. Might explain a few features of Eggman Land too.
I even once had the idea of the characters of Satam being Sonic’s childhood friends being born there too.
Somebody should make this canon.
I drew bunnie as orange cookie from the cookie run franchise.
I don't the Freedom Fighters are no longer canon to the Sonic lore. However, they already made 3D concept art of the characters. Plus, we did get that cameo in Sonic Forces: Looming Shadow.
I know they were only included as merely Easter Eggs. But there could be a possible chance they can be canon. My suggestion: reboot them again. The best way to add them to the story is seeing how they were 'not' in the story. The world of Sonic the Hedgehog has a lot of amazing places. But the one place that hasn't been explored is Sonic's birthplace, Christmas Island.
According to Sonic himself, it is a strange place, much different than anywhere on Earth, filled with strange robots and animals. I figured it to be based out of the worlds from the early Sonic cartoon. So I figured Sally Acorn, Nicole the Holo-Lynx, Rotor the Walrus, Bunnie Rabbot, and Antoine D'Coolette are all childhood friends of Sonic (BEFORE the games). Sally could still be royalty there, Nicole's origin can still be relevant, Bunnie could have gotten her robotic limbs from an incident at a young age, Rotor specializes in technology powered by Power Rings, and Antoine could be once a romantic rival of Sonic's for Sally affection.
In their pre-teen years, Sonic started to get bored of the living on the island, despite being in a relationship with Sally. But all that changed when one day, a man named "Dr. Ivo Robotnik" attacked all of Christmas Island. He came to the island decades ago to study their strange technology, and has returned in his quest to conquer the world. Sonic, Sally, and the rest of their friends fought back against Robotnik and drove him away from the island. Inspired by the event, Sonic decided to leave Christmas Island to go see the world and satisfy his never-ending thirst for adventure, while Sally and others stayed complete their lives. So Sonic took his new plane, The Tornado, and left home, where he would later run into Robotnik again, in the Green Hill Zone on South Island.
Meanwhile, Sally and the others remain on the island, improving themselves into the Freedom Fighters we know today. Sonic would visit on curtain occasions. Sometimes he brings his new friends and tell his old friends about his adventures. They inspired them to go out into the world and have their own adventures, to do some good everywhere. They even consulted for G.U.N. when it was still active. The more Sonic saves the day, the more Sally notices she and the rest of the Freedom Fighters seem insignificant to him now-a-days. She also noticed how close he was getting to one of his friends, Amy Rose. Sally seem happy that there is someone in Sonic's life that could really fulfill keeping him on the right track of who he is meant to be, as she did long ago. So one day, she official broke things of with him, and started a new path.
The Freedom Fighters can go on secret adventures outside the modern Sonic content. They'd battle enemies that really made any appearances; like Fang, Witchcart, and Lyric. Even team-up with unseen and classic characters; like Sticks the Badger, Mighty the Armadillo, Ray the Flying Squirrel, Honey the Cat, Trip the Sungazer, and even Bark the Polar and Bean the Dynamite.
Plus, it might improve the world of Sonic the Hedgehog by adding a more competent and organized group, since characters have no idea what they're doing anymore in the IDW comic series.

In the Archie Comics, Bunnie Rabbot and Cream the Rabbit are related, but only in the Pre-Clean Sweep timeline, as confirmed by Ian Flynn on a forum post and "Sonic the Hedgehog Free Comic Book Day 2012." (but I can't wait 10-15 minutes for that one, so it's just the forum post.)

I remember asking a question on Quora a few years ago, so let me ask it here: Would the Sonic games still have the same story if Sally Acorn, Bunnie Rabbot, Rotor Walrus, Antoine D'Coolette, Snively, Saffron the Bee, and Julie-Su were in the games?
Side note: I also think Heavy and Bomb should be in more of the games that Team Chaotix appears in.
I decided to redraw the Katy Perry album, teenage dream, but with bunnie.
So this won't be a story pitch but a pitch for bringing back the Freedom Fighters
So for Sally she's basically the same as Post-Genesis Wave Sally, she's the princess of the Acorn Kingdom on South Island, she and Sonic dated for a bit but split apart, but they are still friends.
Now for Nicole, she is once again just like her Post-Genesis Wave self, and she sort of has the same semi-canon nature as Whispangle.
Now for Rotor he's a kind laid-back scientist who is fascinated in medical technology (gotta make him as intelligent as Tails in a different way).
Now for Antoine, he was an old friendly-rival to Sonic who had a crush on Sally but has since moved on and married Bunnie.
Speaking of which it's time for my favorite Freedom Fighter, and the one I have the most to say about, Bunnie.
Now Bunnie was born with a lesser version of Neuro-Immune Deficiency Syndrome (the disease Maria had but it's not fatal for her only making it hard for her to walk and making her clumsy) then the metal virus happened and she got infected, However the virus surprisingly cured part of her disease, but because of her illness it took longer for the virus to fully infect her and by the time the Virus was destroyed it only infected her left arm and legs, so Rotor developed a robotic armor for her infected limbs (which resemble her limbs from Satam) which prevented the virus from spreading.
Let's hope that the Witnesses of the Metal Plague don't find out about her.
Credits to КайСмит for coming up with the new name.
Aside from the original cast from Satam
