I once had a Zelda head canon where Botw/TotK Link was secretly a son of Demise and Zelda was a daughter of Hylia and the two gods were siblings, so.

Yes I know this might be off topic, but just saying, cousin-based relationships ain't the worst. It's only if there are siblings or parentals involved that gets screwey

The thing is, in Skyward Sword, it is established that Zelda is the mortal reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia.

However, all Zelda's seem to be born into the royal family of Hyrule which means one Zelda is the great-great-grandmother of another Zelda, though I imagine the lineage varies.

It's often believed that Link is also a reincarnation of himself per game, but it's never clearly stated if all Links are related or descended from one another.

It's also never clearly state what Link and Zelda get up to after the games. In some games they seem to part on good terms (such as Ocarina of Time), other games they seem to grow close (such as Tears of the Kingdom).

I'm just saying if Link is both reincarnation and descendant of himself, and he's been mixing his blood with Zelda's descendants, then I wonder how stagnant the royal family gene pool is.

However, it is believed that Ganon too is the incarnation of Demise, or to be more technical, his hatred. And so far, has taken at least two reincarnations. His first reincarnation was that of a pig monster named "Ganon", who lived through various games where he cheated death or was sealed away etc, but he eventually died and was reincarnated as a male-born Gerudo named Ganondorf. Both Ganon and Ganondorf have lived in multiple games and seen multiple incarnations of Link and Zelda. (The Ganondorf seen in OoT is the same Ganondorf from Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, even though those "Links" he fought with were different reincarnations).

Given Ganon is a pig-monster and Ganondorf is a Gerudo (male-borns being extremely rare), if Demise incarnate is not consistent to blood-lineage, then perhaps neither is Link. Either a random Hylian couple gives birth to the next Link, or maybe Link has some side-girls when not rescuing the princess.

Just saying, if "Zelink" is canon throughout the Zelda series and Link is a reincarnation of his descendants, well I imagine it to be more incestuous than what Knuckles and Julie-Su had.

Oh yeah the canon is nuts. Gene pool is likely 0% diverse.
