The Sonic 3 & Knuckles Special Stages are the easiest in the original trilogy but they're also the most tedious to me by far

They just feel slow

Unironically I like those in Sonic 1 because you can beat them in less than 30 seconds. Sonic 2 is also fine because it keeps you on your toes all throughout

They are quite rare even being in 3D in Sonic Mania.

I am simply not a fan of Sonic 3&K Special Stages/Blue Sphere/Sonic Mania Bonus Stages. The fact Sonic Mania has them is a nuisance.

32 Blue Sphere stages and only 7 Special Stages? Boring!

Eh at least in Mania they're optional

Is it normal that you can bypass the sphere stuff by manually speeding up immediately with a button? Is it on all versions like this?

There's a glitch in the Mania Special Stages that lets you speed up far quicker than normal by bouncing off the bumpers in a specific way. I was never able to pull it off

I actually think they are mid.

Remember when I made a Sonic game tier list and I said that CD's special stages annoy me cos of a shadow placement? Well take that and replace it with boxes of rings and spheres that really annoy someone like me who enjoys simpler special stages.

There's some elements I enjoy and Mania is a solid A tier but the special stages do drag it down just a touch
