I actually think they are mid.

Remember when I made a Sonic game tier list and I said that CD's special stages annoy me cos of a shadow placement? Well take that and replace it with boxes of rings and spheres that really annoy someone like me who enjoys simpler special stages.

There's some elements I enjoy and Mania is a solid A tier but the special stages do drag it down just a touch

You can utilize it to skip all...I think it's 32 blue spheres stages? It's some form of input right before the "Press any button to start" prompt that instantly unlocks everything.
