Real, when i drew sonic characters, before, they would have these big ahh stomachs, small heads and long limbs. But i kept on trying. After a few years, they started to look like this

When drawing the shoes of Sonic characters, or any character in general, you'll have to deal with curve lines. Shoes have a variety of shapes. It's like character designs with three primary shapes: circle, triangle, and square. With Sonic characters, you can build the guidelines with a right-angle triangle with most characters, but you have to curve lines to get that shoe's image.
Then there's the detail. For a character like Sonic, his shoes are simple. Draw two curved lines around the shoe and color them white to give it detail. With the shoe's sole, you'll have to draw a rectangle and curve the rectangle's sides to align with the rest of the shoe. The same can be said about the gold cuffs too except they're more of a square. I'll link the pages talking about Sonic's design for you so you can reference it.
