I’d say Sonic X Shadow Generations would be a great starter game for switch as it allows you to play as Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic, and at the same time introduces you to retro levels from previous games. Sonic Generations introduces Sonic as a whole very well. Plus, you get to play as another sonic character which would be Shadow.

That along with the fact that its on sale.

Sonic Mania is another great choice if you want more simple gameplay

Welcome new Sonic fan to the Sonic Wiki Zone. Yeah you can always try any Sonic game that suits your taste or expectations. I will say Sonic Mania, Sonic Heroes and Sonic Frontiers.

I’d say Sonic Colors Ultimate is a good beginner game, since it does a good job of teaching you about the basics of Sonic gameplay

Sonic Forces. It's not too difficult and I think it has a difficulty setting, with an easier setting recommended for new players.

Yeah but the story is bad.

I don't think so. And even if you do, it's good gameplay that can ease you into Sonic gameplay style and prepare you for the first four games on their re-release. (Though 2, 3, and Knuckles aren't as tough as the first game)

And wait, Sonic Colors is on Switch now?

(Well, I have a Wii so I could've gotten it before if I wanted)
