The head is just one big piece, the claws look like block with razor blades stuck in them. The lack of lower armor looks like he isn't wearing pants, and the shoes like the lego like metal part Knuckles' shoes have.

It works since the team didn't have official art to work with, and had to work with a low poly Saturn model, but it just looks bad when compared to the official model.

It was an Archie exclusive.

Because the team didn't have official art of Metal Knuckles, so they had to use the Saturn model for reference. And the lowpoly model didn't have all the details (hence the one piece head and lack of leg armor)

This is why Metal Knuckles in IDW is closer to the art, because Sega gave them the official art of him from Sonic R.

Which to be fair I like Superstar Metal Knuckles design over Archie Metal Knuckles design. Just wish we had a modern equivalent.

Yeah. Again, if Metal Knuckles was to be in a modern game or modern media like IDW, he would probably just follow Knuckles and Metal Sonic, where he remains mostly unchanged with only long proportions.

The only one that would need a redesign is Metal Amy, due to how different Classic and Modern Amy looks.

True, Modern Metal Sonic isn't that different from Classic Metal Sonic.

Boi deserved better. What if he reappeared in a game and beat up Metal sonic to prove he is the superior robot copy
