Mr. Sega - who owns Sega of Japan - wants Sonknux to be canon more than anything in the world. He spends his nights crying about it. Unfortunately, his evil twin - Mr. Ages - works as a janitor at Sega of America and prefers Sonamy. He uses his position as janitor to force Sonamy into the games, threatening other employees with slippery wet floors should his wishes not be met. He has even coerced an entire legion of fans to function as his personal Sonamy army, a "Sonarmy" if you will. Obviously Mr. Sega cannot use the fact that he's Mr. Ages' boss and superior to order him to stop or fire him for going against his wishes, the only thing he can do to reveal the truth to us are subtle hints of the duo's love, such as artwork of them standing next to each other, are having them talk to each to each other in Frontiers. Such things are undeniable proof Sonknux' canonicity, just make sure to ignore similar situations involving Sonic and Amy, that's all Mr. Ages' doing.
