I know they're supposedly canon... just as Archie Sonic comics were supposedly canon to SatAM when it started out. But likely over time it will have its own ideas, and its own things to the point where it will be its own continuity.

It's already establishing its own characters and concepts, so I wouldn't be surprised if Sega/IDW change its mind in around five years time.
