Dude, she is a lizard. x_x It was even confirmed by Game Informer in a news article that Trip is indeed a lizard, or to be exact, a sungazer lizard.

Are you basing this purely on colour? Because that's the only similarity Trip's tail has to a red panda. It looks way way more like a sungazer tail.
