Looks like a stylised sungazer tail to me.

Dude, she is a lizard. x_x It was even confirmed by Game Informer in a news article that Trip is indeed a lizard, or to be exact, a sungazer lizard.

I have no idea how you could look at that tail and think it's fuzzy.
