@DaveMan1000 yeah, that’s who I meant.
We only have the creator's word for that. Nothing about her orientation was used in the actual comic.
I just don't want Twitter to take over Sonic like they've done with Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, DC, etc.
@DaveMan1000 I actually like the idea of fans being able to ask the writers questions about the stuff and get a canon answer.
Me, Im just too scared to ask any questions. Mostly Shadow and Silver related questions.
I think Sonic is panromantic asexual and support at least three same-sex pairings, but even if Sega confirmed that what I believe is canon I can't imagine it having any bearing on the plot.
@Sonic Fan J527 I've found myself distrusting "Word of God" ever since Ken Penders claimed that Geoffrey St John (one of my favorite characters) is an ephebophile.
@ElectroKyurem even though he calls Sonic a kid, I think he’s only a few years older than him and Sally.
I remember he once had his age on his profile, and he was listed as 27...
Making him 12 years older.
What is with the sudden surge of these sort of discussions? Guys, Sonic the character is not going to be gay but there are already gay characters in the series' history, though it is not explicit.
Seriously though, it would be exploitation to suddenly make Sonic (the character) gay for community brownie points, which is what Anthony Mackie was alluding to when he was talking about Sam and Bucky's romance. However, it would not be exploitation if there was a character integrated into the series that happened to be gay or explained a more natural explanation for why a character in the series is. This has already happened in the series under our noses and nobody batted an eye at it.
If a new character is implemented solely for the reason of representation, then it comes across as pandering and empty virtue signalling; which nobody wants.
However, if their personal preferences are revealed sometime down the line, and it doesn't alter their character in any way, then it'll be more accepted.
A good example of what not to do with this would be Star Wars: The High Republic.
@DaveMan1000 I'm getting my words mixed up right now but yes, I meant for a character to be introduced into the series with their personal preferences revealed sometime later without altering who they are.
