Do you have a Sonic character you really like? Someone really important to you?

This is all stuff I've said before, genuinely confused why it works now.
I simply broke down the information to bitesize pieces.
So did I...
Well, I dunno what I did right then.
Mentioning the official site said CD took place between 1 and 2. That was a critical piece of info that would be most helpful, like Shadow's first appearance in Last Story for my whole split timeline theory.
@Myself If you did raise that point, I must have simply missed it.
I didn't say Sonic CD took place between Sonic 1 and 2, I said it was unlikely to take place between Sonic 4: Episode 1 and 2.
I myself believe it does take place between 1 and 2 because Sonic CDs sprites of Sonic look similar to how they are for Sonic 1 and 2, But I won't rule out it could take place between 3&K and 4.
Official Sonic 4, Episode II story:
"A few months after the events of Episode I, Little Planet, where Sonic CD took place, approaches once more."
This sentence indicates two important things.
• "A few months after the events of Episode I"
The legend of Little Planet from Sonic CD manuals state that Little Planet is visable over Never Lake for a duration of a month before fading. It returns every year making it's intervals annual.
Sonic 4, Episode II story states it's only been a few months since Episode I. It would of specifically said "a whole year" if Sonic CD did took place between Sonic 4 episodes.
• "approaches once more."
I agree this could imply "again" or "a second time", but Sonic CD is specified to imply that it's an entirely seperate event.
If Sonic CD did took place between the episodes, it would refer to both intervals together than seperately. It's likely the sentence is counting the number of times Little Planet has shown up than when they showed up together.
There's a lot I want to say right now, bit I feel like we're making progress, so I won't. I will point out however, that the site didn't say that CD definitely took place between Sonic 1 and 2, it only all but confirmed that CD didn't take place between Sonic 4 Ep I & II.
It did say 4 Episode I took place after Knuckles, and offhand I can't remember where I read something that implied CD took place between Episodes I and II, initially when making my list of games in Sonic continuity (before ever playing any other than Heroes and Sonic the Hedgehog 2), I wrote it off as non-canon because the system it was for was terrible, but had to change my mind on hearing Amy and Metal Sonic first appeared in it, plus it got put on better systems like GameCube, and so I had to find the placement for it, which for some reason I thought was between both episodes of 4.
I remember playing Sonic CD for the first time on my brothers computer. I didn't even know of the Mega-CD at the time. I even wondered if Sonic CD was actually a really good fangame because a Sonic game not on a Sega console was unheard of at the time.
I remember the system that game was originally for was reviewed by Angry Video Game Nerd. (If you don't know who he is, he reviews (and rants about) poorly designed games and game systems). That's why I ignored it at first, until I realized how important it was to the timeline so I then had to find a placement for it.
Reading closer into it, it could have taken place at any of those three points mentioned, but I hear and understand your reasoning for why it might not be between 4 Episodes I and II.
