I took a day away from the matter to be recollect my thoughts and not be fueled by the fire, so I apologize for not responding quickly as I should have.
To answer your point. I do think I am in the wrong for not seeing any of the discussion posts about it, but can you really blame me? The discussions feature isn't really that friendly nor convenient to use, but maybe that's because I've been using the wiki since the days of forum posts. I still do think someone should have informed me, but I do not pin the blame on anyone, but rather than me, once again.
The background changing, though, I do believe someone should have informed all of the administrators, regardless whether they were active or not, to join in on the conversation. I'm not saying you need "the approval of all or specific admins for a background to be set", I'm saying it would have helped gather a larger, more diverse opinion on what the background could have been, instead of using the opinion of only a handful of admins and several other users. It does not matter whether asking someone to help contribute to a *major* wiki changing event is in the rules, it's common courtesy. So, if I were you, or anyone reading this, next time you guys do a background change, let every administrator know via their message wall. There's only ten of us, it should not be too much of a hassle.
As for the background, I suggest, as I said, leave it as it is, and stray away from using a Forces-related background, for reasons I've stated on my last post.
