Hey there guys. I've come here today to ignite once again another site discussion (haven't seen one in a while, haven't we?) and this time, I propose that we should allow users to obtain badges and achievements that every wiki has installed, though our wiki does not have the ability to produce badges to users.
You see, allowing users to get badges and achievements on this wiki will allow users to edit more frequently and help boost the wiki's activity. It encourages new (and even veteran) users to be motivated in making an edit or two. Badges allow for us to gain a plethora of new users and spice up the activity a bit, since it's mostly the same four or five editors on the recent wikia activity that edit the wiki. With badges and the fact that two new Sonic games are coming out within the next two years, there is sure to be some new faces to help out the wiki.
However, there was the argument in the past that I need to acknowledge: competition. Yes, I understand that competition can be mean-spirited sometimes, but competition is good for production and advancements: it encourages another user to do better and makes the user want to learn more and edit more. There's also the argument that users will edit meaninglessly for badges. A way to counter this is by reverting their edits, it's literally a simple solution.
I hope that you guys like this idea and if you don't, then it's perfectly alright. Discuss!
